Invitation to apply for membership of The Folklore Society Council 2025

Council is the decision-making body of The FLS. Council has a maximum of 20 members, and holds hybrid meetings at least 3 times a year. Members can be invited to take part in working groups, and will be expected to take part in running FLS events, conferences and initiatives from time to time. Council works with the Management Board (who are members of Council) to put decisions and policy into practice.
It is open to any FLS member to put their own name forward for membership of Council. At the next Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 16 September 2025, all members present at that meeting (whether online or in person) will be invited to vote anonymously for Council members who have served 3 years since their last election (except for any members standing down) and all new applicants.
If you would like to propose yourself as a candidate, please email the Hon. Sec. Sophia
